Water
All water is supplied by Yorkshire Water. Some properties are metered; some are on a standing charge. If your property is metered you will need to take a reading when you move in. The meters are usually located in the pavement outside the property underneath a small, square metal lid approx 10cm x 10cm. You can lift up this lid with a key or screwdriver and read your meter.
It is also useful when setting up your account to take a note of the meter serial number (especially if you are in a building with lots of flats) so that you can check that you’re paying for the correct supply (the serial number will correspond to your address and appear on any bills. You can usually ask for an engineer to come out to read your meter if you are unsure.
