UTILITIES
As with all of our properties, payment of the utilities bills is the tenants responsibility, so here is some basic information to help you set up your accounts and manage them throughout your tenancy.
1. As soon as you move in, take meter readings for gas, electricity and water and record them on the reports sheet provided. This will prevent you from being charged for previous tenant’s usage. Remember to record the date the reading was taken on. If you have problems locating your meters, we will visit the property with the first week to assist.
2. You will then have to contact the various utilities companies (gas, electricity and water) to set up accounts in your names. It is important to set up your account from the first day that your contract starts. You are responsible for the bills from the date the contract starts, rather than when you move in. If you are not staying in the property over the summer please make sure that you turn off all appliances (fridge, freezer, boiler etc) so that you are not charged for consumption while you are away.
3. When you set up accounts with the utility companies, please ensure that you use the correct address, as shown on your tenancy agreement (e.g.: Flat 1, Ground Floor). If you don’t have this, call us at our office to check.
